In the splay of multi-colored electricity and ostentatious facades there is an emptiness that withdrawals around Vegas. Lee, Everett and I, affectionately refer to ourselves as the muffies. We wrap ourselves in bundles and announce, �The muffies invade Vegas.� We laugh and toy with the ideas of matching tattoos to finalize the coinage.
We stay at the California Hotel, which is a funny Casino, and I�ll tell you why. The majority of the Cal�s patrons are Hawaii visitors. Their menus include Won Ton Min, Seared Ahi Fillets as well as other foods popularly found in Hawaii. The mounted frames on lobby walls and hotel halls depict pineapples and tropical vistas rendered in watercolor. Well what�s funny to me is how Hawaii residents will spend all the money on a vacation only to be accommodated by amenities and details that they may have easily have found at home. Why did we stay there? Cheap tickets, bottom line.
We cruise the strip to be accosted by Hispanic kids in down jackets flicking Strip club Flyers at us. Smack, smack smack. �No thanks.� �No thanks.� �No thanks� After the fourth kid I just shut up and looked ahead past the barrage of smacking and approach.
